WHAT IS THE MN CRAFT BEER PAC?

Founded by the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild, the MN Craft Beer PAC is a Political Action Committee (PAC) led by a committee of members of the Minnesota craft beer industry and is supported by the craft beer community and our fans.

WHAT DOES THE MN CRAFT BEER PAC DO?

We work to protect and support Minnesota’s craft breweries and their rights. We develop and advocate for legislation that modernizes our current liquor laws to remove barriers to growth for our craft breweries. We generally support any legislation that expands the rights of Minnesota’s craft brewers and oppose any proposed legislation that seeks to further limit the rights of craft brewers.

WHAT ARE THE MN CRAFT BEER PAC’S GOALS?

• Grow the Minnesota craft beer industry through common-sense, modern legislation.
• Increase tourism & exportation of Minnesota craft breweries and beer.
• Remove antiquated barriers that exist in the current statute and encourage the MN craft beer industry to continue to generate a high economic impact and create new jobs.
• Protect and increase access to market for craft breweries.
• Grow consumer access to Minnesota craft beer.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?

Contributions are used to support legislative candidates, ballot initiatives, and pieces of legislation that positively impact the growth and sustainability of the Minnesota craft beer industry, and, in turn, oppose candidates, initiatives, and legislation that negatively impact our breweries.

WILL THE MN CRAFT BEER PAC GIVE MONEY TO A LEGISLATOR I DON’T LIKE?

Beer is bipartisan, and so are our endorsements. Politics are a tricky issue, but we believe that there are legislators on both sides of the aisle that want to see our breweries succeed. So, yes, as a nonpartisan group, the MN Craft Beer PAC is likely to support legislators that you might not agree with, but at the end of the day, they support craft beer.

Why should I support the MN Craft Beer PAC?

If all of the things we’ve said previously haven’t helped you make that decision yet, here are a few more:

Craft beer is part of a larger ecosystem. The production of craft beer supports local agriculture (maltsters, farmers, ingredient suppliers, hop-growers). Craft beer also creates jobs in everything from hospitality to manufacturing; operations to microbiology. Further, as part of this ecosystem, craft beer support wholesale distribution and retail which create jobs. Finally, craft breweries are part of a special tier of producers that create locally-made products right here in Minnesota. Supporting this PAC means you are supporting your neighborhoods, your neighbors, and your state.

IS MY CONTRIBUTION TAX DEDUCTIBLE?

Unfortunately, they are not.

WHY CAN’T I MAKE AN ANONYMOUS CONTRIBUTION?

Minnesota state law requires us to collect and report the full name, address, and principal occupation or job title of individuals whose contributions equal or exceed $20 in a reporting period. As a general reporting practice, and to ensure that we follow the rules, we are collecting information from all donors. If you donate under $20, we will not report your information.

WILL YOU SELL OR SHARE MY EMAIL ADDRESS?

We will not. You may choose opt-in to receive occasional MN Craft Beer PAC updates.

WHO CAN CONTRIBUTE AND IS THERE A LIMIT TO HOW MUCH I CAN CONTRIBUTE?

There are no limits on how much you can contribute, but there are rules about who may donate.

Some people and groups cannot give anything to a political committee or fund. We cannot take money, things, or any other contribution from the following people or groups:

• Corporations;
• Limited liability companies (LLCs);
• Anonymous contributors unless the contribution is $20 or less;
• Independent expenditure and ballot question political committees and funds; and
• Anyone who gives us money on the condition that we will give it, or any portion of it, to a particular candidate.

I’D LIKE TO SET UP RECURRING CONTRIBUTIONS. IF I EVER NEED TO CANCEL OR PAUSE MY MONTHLY CONTRIBUTION HOW DO I DO THAT?

Recurring donations can be managed through Donorbox, the form you used to set up the donation. You should receive an email after you donate that allows you to adjust your payments.
